PAULA CURCI

WAITING

 Here under this orange sky
I am Godot.
Waiting.

“Oh, What power the gift he give us
to see ourselves as others see us.”
Now that my necklace of love and loyalty
has been released from your mind.
I am not comforted by his vision.
Knowing—
you have stolen Mark Twain’s
Shadow off the Mississippi,
only to leave me here,
dancing with Ophelia.
As my love clashes
I am kicking up Angela’s Ashes!
An Indigo girl,
blue around the skin.
And all the time singing
“why don’t you spend this time with me” ?

Here under this orange sky
I am Godot.
Waiting.
